CC Challenge Week 3 ~Alcohol MonoPrint Mona~

Week 3's CC challenge was the Alcohol Ink Monoprint.  I love using alcohol ink, getting the intense colors, for this piece of art I used the metallic mixative Pearl, which it gave it a more mutes tone.  in the picture there are two tags, the one on the left the colors are more intense, however I did not like how I stamped the Mona Lisa.  So I did the second.

And now the Alcohol ink Monoprint Mona.

Notice the Fragment, inspired from last weeks challenge.

The saying states. . .
"While an original is always hard to find, it is easy 2 recognize."

Stayed tuned for next weeks Challenge.

The Compendium of Curiosities Challenge -- Water Stamping

Linda, is hosting a weekly challenge, from the techniques from Tim Holtz book "the Compendium of Curiosities".  This is the first week and the challenge was to create a project using the "Water Stamping" technique.

I created this Tag. . .

First I inked the tag with Dusty Concord, then with Aged Mahogany, and then completed covered the tag with Faded Jeans.  I stamped the Clock image using the water stamping technique.  I then covered the tag with Distress Clear Rock Candy Paint.  From the dictionary I tore out the definition of night time aged with with Old Paper distress ink and stickles.

Sunday's Totally Tim Class at Scrapbook 911

So yesterday I attended the monthly Totally Tim Class at Scrapbook 911, my favorite store in San Antonio. and as always we make two tags one taught by Jennie and one by Carrie.  So here is the Tag Jennie taught

I joked with one of my classmates that I was going to do my tag upside down and she said she was going to do hers on the back, well I wasn't joking I did my tag upside down.  The butterfly(ies) I did two but Jennie taught it doing one big butterfly, but I had to continue to be different.  pearl paint was used and then alcohol ink. for a bright colored wing.  I really like this tag!!

Carries Tag was a paint resist, well you really can't see the resist but it is there my choice of background stamp was a little too much detail, and then we painted the sparrow that was texturized using Tim's new embossing folders let it dry and then painted a dark color and wiped off giving it the antique look.  Along the side is Tim's new Tissue Tape.  Love that Tape.

So during the class we had the chance to win a prize if we brought a project using last month's technique, there were some great projects during the show and tell, all those that brought the project were given a ticket and my number was the one that was drawn, so I won the door prize, a plethora of tags and tickets, and one of Tim's Embossing Folders.

Next months class looks to be fun as we saw a peak of the Tag that Jennie is going to teach using the Gears Die, I love gears-- I need to get that die.  And Scrapbook 911 announced a Saturday all day Tim Play Day, where we go and play with stuff and learn from each other all day!  A couple of classmates asked if I would teach something. . . so with a slight hesitation as I was not feeling the best yesterday (darn summer head colds) I said yes. . . I will be teaching Vintage Photo Tinting, using distress inks, and perhaps distress stickles.

Happy Stamping, inking, painting and getting messy

Kylie's Newbie Swap-- "a page from Carrie's noteBook!"

so in the midst of finishing up my pages for my altered Vintage Photo swap, I signed up to be a part of Kylie's Newbie Swap, where we create a Tag or project and swap with newbies in the All Things Tim -Yahoo Group.  Well I was asked to do two more, so I agreed and I can never make just enough for the swap I need to do one extra, I guess you can say it is my prototype, so I made 4 tags.  I was able to get my little fingers on some of Tim's texture/fade embossing folders and I wanted to try them out with this tag.

the background is wrinkle free distress using Pumice Stone, antique Linen, and Old Paper, and of course Walnut Crystals, Embossed using the note book texture/fade embossing folder and then inked the embossed image with Tumbled Glass,  The Truck stamped on Grunge Paper with embossing ink/black powder and inked with Rusty Hinge. and the 13 is embossed using a embossing/fade folder on grunge board and inked with Barn door.  I love how this tag turned out and I am calling this Tag (the first one that I naming) "a page from Carrie's noteBook!"
